V01D's Bold Debut Promise: Win Rookie of the Year or Skydive Together

Five-member band V01D has officially entered the K-pop landscape with a debut promise that nobody saw coming. At their debut showcase held at SA Hall in Seoul's Daehakro district on March 11, guitarist and vocalist Jung Jiseop declared that if the group wins Rookie of the Year, all five members will go skydiving together — and even offer personal instrument lessons to lucky fans selected through a draw.

A Band Built on Global Roots

Produced by IX Entertainment, V01D stands out not just for their average height of 183 centimeters, but for the remarkably diverse backgrounds of their members. The lineup features Song Yuchan on drums, Cho Juyeon on vocals, Jung Jiseop on guitar and vocals, Kevin Park on keyboards and vocals, and Shinnosuke on bass.

Kevin Park attended Pomona College in the United States, while Shinnosuke studied at Rikkyo University in Japan. Cho Juyeon previously appeared on the reality competition show Steel Heart Club. Despite their different cultural backgrounds, musical tastes, and academic paths, the members insist their chemistry is undeniable.

Kevin Park emphasized that while every member brings a completely different background to the table, their musical synergy feels natural. He expressed his desire for V01D to showcase their unique identity through years of activity together.

A Second Chance at a Dream

For Jung Jiseop, this debut carries extra weight. Having previously experienced a debut with another project, he admitted that the night before the showcase, he could not sleep from sheer excitement. His candid confession about the emotional significance of getting a second chance resonated deeply with fans and media present at the event.

Shinnosuke, the youngest member, offered playful insights into each member's personality. He described himself as someone with bass-like steadiness but surprising hidden charms. According to him, Juyeon appears bright and puppy-like but is unexpectedly quirky, while Yuchan hides powerful drumming skills behind a gentle exterior. Jiseop, meanwhile, looks cool and detached but is actually deeply sensitive.

The Music Behind the Buzz

V01D's debut mini album titled 01 drops today at 6 PM KST across all major streaming platforms. The title track Tug of War showcases the band's tight instrumental prowess paired with an emotionally stirring build. The four-track album also includes ROCKROCK, The One, and LUNA, each demonstrating the breadth of V01D's musical spectrum from rock energy to melodic warmth.

The group will hold their fan showcase at 8 PM tonight, marking their very first face-to-face meeting with fans. With a skydiving promise on the line, a roster of globally educated musicians, and a debut album that flexes genuine instrumental ability, V01D is positioning itself as one of 2026's most intriguing rookie acts in the Korean music scene.
