Trot singer Son Tae-jin delivered a standout performance on KBS Immortal Songs that not only earned him a record-breaking victory but also secured a remarkable promise from legendary trot icon Sul Woon-do himself. The singer was awarded a brand new twist-genre song from the legend as a token of admiration for his electrifying stage presence.

A Record-Breaking Victory

The February 28 broadcast of KBS 2TV Immortal Songs featured the second part of the Sul Woon-do special, celebrating the career of the trot pioneer behind iconic hits like Samba Woman, Love Twist, and Cha Cha Cha Together. Son Tae-jin, affectionately known as Sul Woon-do adopted son in the trot world, had already captured the Part 1 crown with a staggering 424 votes, a record-setting number in the show history.

MC Lee Chan-won congratulated Son Tae-jin on his impressive win, noting that from the very first moment, the singer dominated the stage with solo dancing that had everyone on their feet. Son Tae-jin explained that his performance was an homage to classic retro dance styles, saying he wanted to evoke the pure joy of dancing without technical choreography, just the simple thrill of moving to the music.
